How I Started a Blogging Website Using AI in One Afternoon
What began as a simple idea turned into a live website with published content in just a few hours. Like many people, I’ve spent plenty of time thinking about starting a blog. I’ve had ideas before. I’ve researched domains, watched videos about blogging, and read countless articles about making money online. But like a lot of people, I never actually got started. Then one afternoon, I decided to stop thinking and start doing.
The Idea
Over the last year, I’ve become increasingly interested in artificial intelligence and how it can help with everyday work .I’m not an AI engineer, developer, or technology expert. I’m simply someone who has found AI incredibly useful for things like writing, brainstorming ideas, drafting emails, and improving productivity.
The more I used AI, the more I realised that there are probably thousands of people in the same position as me: curious about AI, interested in learning, but unsure where to start.
That’s when the idea for this website was born.
Finding a Name
The first challenge was deciding what to call the website.
I wanted something simple, clear, and memorable.
Rather than focusing on AI in a highly technical sense, I wanted the website to be about practical AI use for normal working people.
After brainstorming different ideas, I landed on AI For Everyday Work.
The name felt right because it describes exactly what I want the site to be about.
Using AI as My Assistant
One of the biggest advantages I had was access to AI tools.
Instead of staring at a blank screen wondering what to do next, I used AI to help me:
•Brainstorm blog ideas
•Refine the website concept
•Structure content
•Generate article outlines
•Improve wording
•Solve problems as they came up
What surprised me most was that AI didn’t do the work for me. It simply helped me move faster.
I still had to make decisions, choose directions, and edit the content. AI became more like an assistant than a replacement for my own thinking.
Buying the Domain
Once I had a name, I bought the domain.
At that point, the project suddenly felt real.
It’s amazing how something changes when you’ve invested even a small amount of money and committed to putting your idea online.
Instead of being “something I might do someday,” it became “something I’m building right now.”
Building the Website
The next step was creating the website itself.
I’ll be honest, there were moments when I wasn’t entirely sure what I was doing.
I had to figure out things like:
•Menus
•Categories
•Author settings
•Pages
•Site navigation
Every time I hit a small obstacle, I either searched for the answer or asked AI for guidance.
One problem at a time, the website started to take shape.
Publishing My First Blog Post
The most important moment wasn’t buying the domain.
It wasn’t setting up the site. It wasn’t choosing colours or categories.
It was clicking Publish on my first blog post.
Suddenly, I wasn’t someone planning to start a blog.
I was someone who had started a blog.
That might sound like a small distinction, but it’s a huge mindset shift.
What I Learned
By the end of the afternoon, I had learned several important lessons:
Done Is Better Than Perfect
If I had waited for the perfect website design, logo, or content strategy, I’d probably still be planning instead of publishing.
Getting started matters more than getting everything right.
AI Helps, But Action Matters More
AI can provide ideas, suggestions, and guidance.
But at some point, you still have to buy the domain, build the website, and hit publish.
Small Steps Add Up Quickly
A few hours earlier, I had nothing.
A few hours later, I had:
•A domain name
A website
•An About page
•Published blog posts
•A clear direction for future content
Looking back, that’s remarkable progress for a single afternoon.
What’s Next?
This website is very much a work in progress. My goal is to continue documenting my journey with AI, sharing practical tips, useful tools, lessons learned, and real-world experiences.
I’m not positioning myself as an expert.
Instead, I’m sharing what I learn as I go and hoping it helps other people who are on a similar path.
If you’re thinking about starting a blog, learning AI, or building something online, my advice is simple:
Don’t wait until you feel ready.
Start.
You can learn the rest along the way.Final thought: This morning I didn’t have a blog. By the afternoon I had a domain, a website, and published content. That’s proof that sometimes the hardest part isn’t learning how to do something. It’s deciding to begin.
